Lake Havasu Paddle To The Channel champs readies..

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 September, 2009 : - - Come celebrate in the worlds first annual stand up paddleboarding world championship to be held in Lake Havasu. The worlds fastest growing water sport combining surfer's balance skills with canoe paddlers endurance and speed.

It should come as no surprise that an SUP event of this magnitude would be held here where all things water sport related are celebrated. This event will be held the week prior to the Jet Ski world finals in the same location. Come participate and make history at the Paddle to the Channel! Staged at the Crazy Horse campground (Home of the IJSBA 'Jet Ski' World Finals).

This race site lends itself to the perfect atmosphere to competitors and to spectators alike. Spectators will have the chance to view the race from the grandstands on the beach or from the World Famous London Bridge. Not only will they be able to mingle with the athletes but will also be able to check out the latest in what the SUP world has to offer at the various vendor sites.

Exhibition Race New Comers, Amateurs Run what you brung. One lap race for prizes and giveaways.

FORMAT: 8 lap circuit race (approx. 1 mile) per lap featuring the world's best Stand-up paddlers. Each circuit lap will include a short beach exchange with the final lap being the paddle to the channel and the finish at the world famous London Bridge.

Juniors (to complete 3 laps of course no beach exchange) Winner of each category will be crowned the WORLD CHAMPION OF STAND UP PADDLEBOARDING!

K38 International will be providing the on-water security for the World Champion of Stand Up Paddleboarding. Get in on the Fun! This is your chance to be involved in the very first World Championship Paddleboard competition in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

If you are not Paddleboarding now, come see what all the buzz is about. This is one of the fastest growing sports that is enjoyed by all ages. You will be able to try it out for yourself as Paddleboards will be available for your use from various vendor demonstrators located at the event site.

Stand Up Paddling, also known as SUP, is the perfect combination of surfing and traditional canoeing or kayaking. Using a canoe-like paddle and standing atop a larger version of a traditional longboard surfboard, paddlers push themselves through the water with side to side paddle strokes. Stand-up paddling offers a phenomenal core workout with a cadence much like swimming or cycling.
